Setting Goals for the Coming Season

Establish your goals - Analyze your game - Create a Plan

If you want to improve you have to take a hard look at your game and create a plan.

This is the time of year many of my students and I discuss their goals for the coming season.  Together we analyze their game, identify their strengths and weaknesses and create a plan to reach their goals.

To analyze your game and identify your strengths and weaknesses complete the following Game Analysis Worksheet.

Your average score for 18 holes ____
Your index ____
Average number of fairways hit per round ____
Average number of greens hit in reg. per round ____

Identify the Strengths and Weaknessess of your Game:

Using a scale of 1.0 to 5.0 rate each phase of your game.

Total Analysis ____ (total of above ratings) divide by 16 or by the number of phases you rated to learn your Overall Game Analysis_____.

How you rate:
4.5 - 5.0  Your Avg. score for 18 holes is in the 70's.
3.8 - 4.4  Your Avg. score for 18 holes is in the 80's.
3.0 - 3.7  Your Avg. score for 18 holes is in the 90's.
2.2 - 2.9  Your Avg. score for 18 holes is in the low 100's.
1.0 - 2.1  Your Avg. score for 18 holes is over 110.

Note:  Be sure not to overrate yourself.  For example, if you normally shoot in the 90's and your Overall Game Analysis is greater than 4.0 you have overrated your skill level in a particuliar phase of your game.  Return to the various phases of your game and reevaluate.
